I know in life we are on a mission to get things done, to reach a goal, to do it, whatever it may be. That is great and I know you are going to make it but in doing that don't forget to take time and enjoy your life. Enjoy your family, enjoy your hobbies, enjoy nature or whatever it is that makes you happy. We miss out on soooo much by always being in a hurry and taking time to notice the things or people around us. Remember time is the most important thing that we have and once it is gone you can't get it back. So the use of your time. You should aggressively pursue your dreams and goals so that you can reach them and feel that you have fulfilled your calling. But what did you sacrifice getting there. I heard a Ted Talk by Shonda Rhimes and she was talking about not saying No. She was not referring to her jobs or projects, she was referring to her kids. We sometimes get so busy that we sacrifice those that need us the most. She said that she will stop what she is doing or going to take the time, 5 minutes, 10 minutes and hour to play with her kids. It does her good and it definitely does her kids good. They know that no matter how busy she gets they are a priority. I am sure there a exceptions to the rule but they are exceptions and not the rule. We all are willing to sacrifice to get what we want but are we trying to have causalities as well. If you don't have kids, then your spouse. If you don't have a spouse then your Mother, Father, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews... more importantly YOURSELF. Take time to enjoy something you like to do that is away from the hustle and bustle of trying to reach your goal. You need time to unwind and recharge. Take a walk in the park, go for a bike ride, go to the movies or a concert or just get in the car and drive. Do something that doesn't take a lot of brain cells.
Stopping and smelling the roses is just another way of saying take time and enjoy the people and things around you. My Wife and my Daughter are my Roses. What are your Roses?
